"There's currently a gap, and quite a significant one, between the rhetoric of the 2023 DSR
and the 2023-24 Defence Budget (and forward estimates). How Defence and the rest of the Government will work together to bridge the gap will become clearer over the coming year."

"The Big Squeeze", Australian Strategic Policy Institute, May 2023

Value we bring
to the Nation

A diversified, reliable and resilient Defence and Security supply chain in Leading-Edge Technology, Operational Know-How and Turn-Key Services that deliver Minimum Viable Capability in the shortest possible time.

"Defence funding for 2023-24 reached $52.6 billion.... only one per cent increase in real terms."

Australian Defence Magazine, April 2004.

Defence spending over the forward estimates isn’t expected to feature major if any increases until 2027–28. The Australian Government will need to find resourceful ways to secure its supply chain
in the event of open conflict or a rapid escalation in 'hybrid warfare'.

HOW WE BEGAN

My name is Rodrigo Osorio — Director of Advisorio.
I have been associated with the military aviation my entire life. I moved
to Australia to expand my horizons in military aviation and aerospace.

I have been working within the Australian Defence Industry for 25 years. My career has spanned to include a diverse range of roles and skill sets such as being an Aeronautical Engineer, Project Manager and Program Manager. As I evolved, I became a General Manager, International Business Development Manager and overall, now help Defence and Security companies grow in Australia.

In 2006, I joined a (now) renowned Australian professional services company. Then, we were 60 employees. When I left — after 14 years of helping the company grow and win bids— we were 600.

I have a passion for this Nation and for Defence capability.  And I am enthusiastic about possibilities to effectively and efficiently secure Australia's capability supply chains to protect the interests of each and every Australian in the immediate term.

I look forward to helping your company win profitable and executable programs that bring security to our Nation.

OUR EVOLUTION & WHAT WE FOUND

The geopolitical environment in the Indo-Pacific has made me reflect on our Nation’s current ability to quickly build up defensive and offensive capabilities to deter any attempted change to the political order in the region.

Like many other people have already, I have identified that our Nation’s Defence and Security Supply Chain is not set up to support our Government generate sufficient levels of preparedness to address the Nation’s most significant military risks in reduced warning times.

Developing the industrial base needed to prepare Australia for the potentiality of conflict will take time. But re-industrialisation will provide Australia an enhanced sense of sovereignty, economic resilience, and confidence to deter.

There will be opportunities for new-entrants and companies already established in Australia, that have the agility and risk appetite to grow, to be part of the Australian Government’s efforts to strengthen its political position in the region in the near and medium-term.

I also have found that Australian and overseas companies entering the Australian Defence and Security sector lack the expertise and experience to respond to onerous Australian Government materiel acquisition, sustainment and services opportunities.

After nearly 25 years of working in and helping Australian Defence companies grow, I realised that there is a need for expertise in end-to-end Campaign Management.

I have found that, particularly, there is a need for information. Most companies do not have the tools or methodologies to determine their Probability of Win at any point during a Campaign. And they lack the data to support decision making about continued investment in the Campaign.

Winning new business, particularly big Government contracts, requires a lengthy pipeline. It can take up to three years for an opportunity to be converted into a contract. And the demand for BD, Capture and Proposal resources and expertise fluctuates as the various Campaigns progress.  Sometimes these resources end up being unproductive in between Campaigns.

I have also found that professional support to Customers wanting to win Australian Government contracts is fragmented and is only provided in portions. Services in the current marketplace include Business Development and Proposal Development, but not much in between.

These gaps in the market are the reasons WHY I began Advisorio — to be able to address these problems in the most cost and time-efficient way possible for my Clients via our ROI Capabilities.
